Spring Cleaning!

I just read a post about spring cleaning and it got me all excited! I have waited all year for this. I know it's hard work but oh, the rewards! This is my regiment:

  • Flush toilet. After a year, it gets pretty full.

  • Change sheets. I know the new ones will take some getting used to but hang in there, come June, they will feel like the ones you took off.

  • Empty refrigerator. A chisel works just fine. You can put back any fuzzy things as long as the fuzz is white. If it's any other color, use it for this evening's meal or toss it.

  • Carpet and floor cleaning; starting at one corner of the room, peel back the dirt and grime. It should stick together quite well. Begin to roll it towards the middle of the room. Carry a scissors so that you can cut around any furniture and continue to roll. When you are finished, secure with duct tape and drag out to your compost pile.

  • As far as furniture goes, it's time to spruce it up. I know I'm ready for a change. Aren't you? Gather the kids and those permanent markers. Let them go to town. You will be amazed at how much more creative your kids have gotten since last year. No kids? No problem. You can do it yourself with nail polish.

  • Drain all the water out of your bathtub. Fill it up again. I know, there goes the water bill! Don't worry if the water looks clear. It always starts out like this remember? If everyone takes their weekly bath, it will begin to get color.

  • It's also time to discard those paper plates and plastic utensils. Get new ones. Don't forget to label which plate and utensils belong to who. See? There's another use for those markers.

  • Empty all your drawers and closets. Get out the scissors and fabric paint. You can update your entire wardrobe with little effort. As soon as you are finished, throw all items back on the floor in your closet.

I know it seems daunting but just think of the rewards. This is just a starting point for your Spring Cleaning. Ooooo. I am so excited, I am going to get started right now!

And don't forget, to all of us with pets, the hair drifts beneath the furniture and in the corner makes excellent insulation!

Wait! You do this at the change of seasons? Hot to Cold? What are you, OCD or something?

lmfao thank god I'm not the only one who has a problem with changing/cleaning the sheets. When I lived on my own I NEVER washed my sheets! The day I did...boy I tell ya it smelled like ass, booty, breathmints and nightmares!

I love those cleaning tips... especially the one about flushing the toilet after a year. Just imagine the turd mountain you would have in the toilet if you didn't flush for a year. Just thinking about it makes me wanna go make a sandwich with extra mayo. I also like your changing the sheets idea. They get kinda crusty after awhile. Take care. :)

You silly girl :-) I'm spring cleaning here - even gave the fifteen year old lab a bath. Trust me, it could have been on a sitcom. Next time, I'll get naked first and save myself some laundry.

This is funny, and I think you've pretty much described the state of my house. But now I'm done classes so I get it's time to peel back the grunge on the floors and carpet.
Hilarious post!

Can you come help me with my house? I'm scared. I can't do it alone.
