What an idiot I am. Talking about my son-in-law. He never was very demonstrative nor affectionate, but he worked and was a real good dad as far as feeding, bathing and taking care of the kids. He also cooked and cleaned and stuff like that. Now? He's a whole other person. He's been on unemployment for over a year and a half and oddly enough, no job has come knocking on his door. Maybe he should go out and look for one. Now he doesn't clean, wouldn't mow and the only bill he keeps up with is the cable bill. All he does is watch TV, coach the kids ballgames and,...oh yeah, I almost forgot the most important thing! He takes the family camping. Had his truck repossessed twice, my daughters car is unsafe and my son "gave" them their vehicle since neither he nor his wife can drive anymore, for $500. Now it needs transmission work (as does my daughter's car). My daughter works in the ER though she's not a nurse,...she had one year to go in nursing school when she had to quit once he lost his job. Here's the thing,..they need to work together on their financial mess and not only is he unwilling to do so, he doesn't even keep her informed as to what's going on. (He pays the bills.) So she gets to come home and be surprised by the fact that either their water has been turned off or the electric or gas. Never the cable though. They live in the northwest and they didn't have gas for their furnace and water heater (he set up some kind of weird camp shower thingie and they heated water and they used that for "showers". They bought electric heaters and used them most of the winter because once they did pay the gas bill, while they could have hot water,...they found out the furnace didn't work. He finally got that working so they could use their air conditioning. Their home is like a split level with and even lower level where furnace and another room is. Anyway, they go down a few steps from the main floor into what they use as a living room/TV room. It has been leaking from outside. Now it is leaking so bad and further into the room that my daughter is concerned with mold and stuff as it smells really bad. They have 3 kids. All he thinks about is TV and baseball and camping. WTF!!!!!! We can't help them because #1 - My man controls our money and #2 - They already owe us over $20,000.00 so,....
Say a prayer, I guess. pray for a miracle.

Don't give up yet. I know someone in my extended family that this happened to after he lost his job. He lost his self esteem and suffered from depression. He just recently found a job and seems to be getting back on track, has found his self esteem and the dark cloud lifted, as well. I will say this... even a job flipping burgers for 7 bucks an hour, is 7 bucks more than 0 bucks an hour. Prayers and good thoughts!

I was just going to say that he sounds really depressed to me. Poor guy, but he needs to get back in the mix. Yeah, praying it will happen. Good luck Honey.
