Sonday

Cuz it sure ain't sunny out. Wind is good. (Oh how far I will reach to find the silver lining, right?) Throat is sore and was thinking....whiskey or advil? Advil won out but I may go the whiskey route later this evening. We went out for breakfast after church. I am too full. The Hunter said, "Let's just put the roast away." Yay! Anything to get out of cooking!!! But no, we will still have the roast and baked potatoes and sweet corn from The Hunter's cousin's farm. The Hunter froze it last summer and it is sooooo good! I am glad I was able to mow that one nice-and I use the term lightly-day. I also got my flowers. I usually spend about $80 each year. I had planned to get 2 flats of annuals and 3 perennials. I am switching to all perennials but still do some pots here and there for color. I looked outside first. (Home Depot) Saw these awesome black petunias. But they were in a large pot with a few white accent plants. $20 EACH? No way. I went inside knowing full well they wouldn't have any single trays. The same thing happened when they first started selling grape ivy. But as I'm looking around, I became aware that my inner dialogue was - oh, these might be ok and....maybe I will try some of these.... It dawned on me how stupid I was being. So, I went outside and grabbed the last two pots. I am so excited!!!! Yeah, this is me. I get easily excited by the smallest things; A different kind of bird. A hot air balloon. A beautiful cloud formation. Fireworks. Even that time I held the Tarantula. Well,....not excited, but after the fact I was proud that I did it. I'm telling you, it was the softest thing I have ever held. Seriously. As always...thanks for the comments. always appreciate them.

I have black thumbs, but even I am getting tempted to buy something other that silk. All my silk plants grow, is DUST! (they do grow it well, though)

Oops, that was supposed to be "other than" not "other that". Crap, I hate when that happens!

I wish my husband would listen to my inner self when I tell him things would look good. Oh well, he does fine at the buying plants. I just know their yellow or pink. I'm a dork.

I could never ever hold a Tarantula, I am way too weird about crawly things. I would have been proud of myself could I have done that. About four weeks ago, we had a really hot day and I went to walk to the mailboxes near our townhouse and interrupted a very large snake having a sunbath. OMG I nearly died of fright. I was coming down the stairs and saw it and skitted to the side and then he went up the sairs I had just come down from. I still shudder just to think. Thank god they are in hibination now that it's the last month of Autumn and it's starting to get really cold. BRRR. Sorry, I know that besides Tarantulas, this had nothing to do with your post!
*hugs*

Me and plants? I hate killing God's creations. Hell, I even kill plastic plants.

I kill all my houseplants. Not that I want to - they're so pretty. But I always seem to fuck it up.

I have one that has survived for about 20 years..I guess its just really sturdy!

For the sore throat...
Go with some brandy in a snifter, add some honey, and put it in the micro for about 40 seconds. You won't be sorry.
Let me know how that works out for you!

I have gotten better with plants as have gotten older. I think my ignoring them makes them stronger.

Me and houseplants just don't get along! they hate me and I hate them...only because they hate on me! They mess with my allergies and die on me only to grow stronger then ever once I give them away!

I can completely relate to being excited by the small things... and why not? That's what makes life worthwhile. We can't have a big celebration or an amazing triumph every day, but there are always things to enjoy if we're open to it.

I still haven't gotten my flowers. I usually have them in by May 1st but our weather has been so bad and I've been so busy. I can't even believe they are talking "wide spread frost" tonight... on the 16th of May!! Sheeesh.

Maybe Friday I'll get to the flowers.

So far I have bought one hanging basket and one pot of geraniums.. deep red. I got another hanging basket of petunias for Mother's day. I plan to buy two more plants this week. I have been busy moving impatients that volunteer in my yard into pots and other places. I actually moved some daisies into a new bed and forgot where I planted them. I kept searching on one end of the bed that I knew I had planted them. Nope... they were completely on the other end.. I'm losing it fast... sorry I wrote a whole post on your comment section... hope your throat feels better soon...

Good day! Thanks for stopping by my blog, it's a pleasure to 'meet' you! Tarantulas freak me right out (anything with more than 4 legs does actually) and I'm still hoping that one day I awake with an inkling of an interest in flowers and plants but I fear it's just one more thing to take care of and right now 2 boys, age 3 and 1 plus a dog (oh and a husband) are all I can handle right now. ;)
